What the eff is EFT Tapping?

You may have heard or seen this spiritual technique floating around the internet, but what is EFT Tapping and does it actually work? Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping was created in the 1990's by Gary Craig and has been changing lives since. This simple form of healing has the client lightly tap on different energy meridian points on their body, similar to the ones used in acupuncture, while talking through an issue or repeating a script. This process of tapping and talking helps calm the amygdala down which is responsible for fight or flight in the body while also reprogramming the subconscious mind to change your beliefs about the subject. Personally, I use this technique every morning to heal any negative beliefs I notice so I can continue to manifest with ease!

How Does EFT Tapping Work?
As I mentioned above EFT Tapping is a simple healing process that anyone can do by lightly tapping with your fingers on different energy meridian points on the body such as the top of the head, under the eyes, and collarbone. There a few different variations of where to tap in what order, but the most common sequence can be found in the graphic.
Now these meridian points are some of the same ones used in acupuncture and correlate with the energy system in the body. According to Dr. Dawson Church, “Acupoint tapping sends signals directly to the stress centers of the mid-brain, not mediated by the frontal lobes (the thinking part, active in talk therapy).” Because EFT simultaneously accesses stress on physical and emotional levels, he adds, “EFT gives you the best of both worlds, body and mind, like getting a massage during a psychotherapy session.” All our negative emotions, past trauma, and unhealed experiences exist in our bodies and can affect our mood, perception of self and others, and basically your entire life.
If you follow me on Instagram @magically_tarasimone, you know I teach manifestation and how our beliefs shape our reality particularly when it comes to money. Thoughts such as "Money is the root of all evil", "I have to work hard to earn more", or "rich people are evil" can block you from abundance. By EFT Tapping through these beliefs we can clear them away and program new ones into your brains such as "Money supports my needs & desires", "Good people do good things with money", or any other negative belief you want to shift.
People also use EFT Tapping for a wide variety of things such as mental illness, physical pain, eating disorders, anxiety, weight loss, and much more! But no matter what you are tapping on, all sessions start the same way.
How to EFT Tap
First, you identify what you are tapping on and how severe the issue is on a scale of 1-10. By the end of your tapping session the goal is to get that number down to a 3 or less. Once you put a number to the severity of the issue, you can begin tapping on the karate chop point aka the side of your hand. Most people use their dominate hand to tap on the other, but either way works. Simply take two fingers and lightly, but continuously tap on the point. While tapping on the karate chop point, start saying what is going through your head about this issue. This is your chance to get all those feelings out! End this part of the tapping session by saying "Even though I _______________ (state your problem again) I deeply & completely love, accept, and forgive myself"
When you feel ready, begin tapping on the top of your head. You can use one hand or both, either way works fine! This is your chance to question these thoughts you are having and start to transform your mindset. There are tons of tap along videos on Youtube as well as scripts you can follow. Each sentence you say correlates to a tapping point so as you talk you work your way around the body from the top of the head to your eyebrows, side of eyes, under the eyes, under the nose, on the chin, collarbone, ribcage, and then wrists. You repeat the pattern while talking for as many rounds as you need to get that original number down to a 3 or less.
Personally, I create my own scripts based on whatever is going on that day or follow along with a tapping video on Youtube. The more you EFT Tap, the easier and easier it gets! And you will feel so good after you will want to do it every day.
Important things to note before EFT Tapping
As I have mentioned, this is similar to acupuncture as well as deep inner healing work. From a physical standpoint, you will want to be well hydrated and drink some water before & after tapping just like you do when you get a massage.
It will also be helpful to have a private space to do EFT Tap in since it can be very personal. Some of my clients cry during our tapping session so make sure you are in a safe place to work through these emotions. Lastly, you may also laugh, yawn, burp, etc. Many practitioners believe this is energy leaving your body and a good sign!
How to Manifest Using EFT Tapping
Manifestation is so much more than thinking positivity about the things you desire. It is deep inner healing work to remove any limiting beliefs or unhealed stories from the past that don't serve you to make space for your desires to flow into your experience. All the good vibes, affirmations, and visualizations in the world won't do much if you still have subconscious beliefs that go against what you desire.
That is where EFT Tapping comes in! By tapping on these limiting beliefs you can clear & reprogram your mind to think differently. For example, if you are stressing out about a bill (like I was in the story I share below) you can EFT Tap on that stress and calm yourself down so it is easier to think positivity about your finances. And then use tapping to program more positive affirmations into your subconscious!
I use this technique with all my 1:1 clients during week 2 of coaching and am always shocked at what happens after. Money manifests out of thin air, years of family turmoil is forgiven, self confidence sky rockets, and they are so much more at peace with life. Any time you notice a funky thought that is fighting against what you are trying to manifest, try EFT Tapping on it and reaffirm what you choose to believe now.
What Happens When You EFT Tap Every Day?
Ready for some CRAZY results?! I challenged myself last month to EFT Tap every single morning as part of my alignment routine. Typically this only takes me a few minutes and I was only focusing on manifesting more money, which I did, but even MORE amazing things happened.
But let's start with the money! Recently my girlfriend, Sasha, and I booked a trip for our 5 year anniversary. It was a few thousand dollars and I was slightly freaking out about paying for it so I quickly EFT tapped on it while I was waiting for my lunch to heat up. It wasn't more than 3 minutes of tapping, but the next day a letter came in the mail saying our escrow account had a surplus of $1,600 and the check was on the way! We had no idea that could even happen, but the Universe has a funny way of surprising you with your desires.
A few days and tapping sessions later, I received a collaboration deal with one of my favorite companies for more money than I typically charge for a post! They messaged me out of the blue and offered me a spot in their next campaign. I didn't even tap on getting a new collaboration, just that I wanted a little extra spending money for our trip.
Lastly, I had a new 1:1 client enroll with me and with that had received all the money I spent on the trip in less than a week. And all I did was EFT Tap every morning on whatever limiting beliefs were holding me back.
Now for the other crazy things that have happened this month. I lost 5lbs without trying most likely from less stress & stress eating due to tapping daily. I finally stopped my bad habit of picking my nails, again probably from less stress. My skin has cleared up after years of struggling with acne (but I also started a new skincare routine so that may have been a factor). And lastly, I am more patient with others, significantly less worried, and find myself appreciating life more....all because I tap every single morning!
